I hope that you enjoyed our snow day.  The next event coming up fast that you wont want to miss is Acquire the Fire.  This year’s theme is “Encounter”.  What is Acquire the Fire (ATF)?  Acquire the Fire is more than worship (David Crowder Band, Unhindered).   More than great concerts (thousand foot crunch, firefight, everyday Sunday, and Sarah Reeves).  More than great talks about God.  ATF is 27 hours set apart to give you a chance for a life-transforming experience with Christ.  That’s what ATF is all about!  This year we are going to go to Portland.  The initials ATF for acquire the fire
cost of the event is $50.  The date of the event is April 23-24.  I have 20 tickets that I have pre-purchased at $50.  The first twenty that pay me $10 will get those tickets.  After the twenty tickets are accounted for the price per ticket will go up to $55.  So sign-up and pay-up if you want the $50 price.

city scene with urban encounter written across it
Also I just set the date for Urban Encounter.  Urban Encounter is a service project we are doing in Seattle.  We will be partnering with our sister church Rainer Ave. Free Methodist Church.  This will be three days of serving and experiencing life as it goes on in the Urban Environment.  We will take part in the Refugee Project sponsored by World Relief.  Besides this we will conduct services for the men’s shelter and take a fiery ride.  We will have an opportunity to experience many different styles of worship on Sunday.  This will be three days of experiential learning and serving.  Mark your calendars for June  4-6.  The cost of this will be $60.

Easter is on its way!
To help celebrate, we will have our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  We are in need of candy to fill the eggs.  You can leave  your donations at the back of the church in the box marked 'candy'.  Thank you in advance for making this years egg hunt special for the kidz of Cooks Hill!

jabez
March is missions month so let's especially remember Jabez this month.
If you would like to write a letter to Jabez this month, please get it to me (Miss Laura) and I will send them to him.  Also, make sure to bring your offering each week so we can keep supporting Jabez.  Remember he is relying on us for food, clothes, and schooling!  Although we are not able to send gifts to Jabez, if you would like to donate money towards a special gift for Jabez, let me know, and I will make sure that money is marked 'gift'.  Thanks, kidz, for making a difference in the life of Jabez!

Hey, Kidz - how are you doing on your daily Bible reading?  We are three months into the year now, so hopefully many of you have made it a daily habit.  Isn't it great to be in God's word?   If you misplaced your sheet or never received one, there are extras on the white table underneath the children/youth bulletin board down by HeBrews.  Keep reading!

Kidz Kare is in need of a teacher or two.  Miss Allison is now on her way to Africa, so we need to fill her teaching position.  There are  actually two openings:  3-4 year olds and 4th-5th grade.  There is  minimal prep time but abundant blessings when you teach.  It’s so   awesome to know you are a part of God's team - preparing the next generation to be God's servants.  If interested in this amazing journey, please contact Miss Laura.

smiley face with question marks around him
I have some questions for you.

How is your relationship with Jesus going?  What does a relationship with God mean?  What are you suppose to do in this relationship?  What is God suppose to do?  What does God require?  What are you meditating on?  How do you follow Jesus?  What secrets do you wish to tell someone if they would only listen?

It is my prayer that in 2010 our youth ministry would be a place where these kinds of questions are asked on a regular basis, that force us to be honest with each other and our Lord.

The second and fourth Sunday of each month we have a Bible Study for all youth, ages 12 to 18, at Jay and Brenda Cowin’s home.  This study is for all those who want to go deeper into the word. (it’s time to scuba dive)

HELPING HANDS FOR HAITI
How I Can Help The Earthquake Victims:
- Pray for: Survivors, orphans, those who lost loved ones, missionaries, aid/relief rebuilding teams, and salvation for those who do not know Jesus.
- Give
On Wednesday, February 3 (for children who attend CLC) and on Sunday, February 7 (for those children who attend Kidz Kare), we will be having a special offering for Haiti.  Please collect coins and dollars between now and then and bring them in on February 3 or 7.  We will be sending collected monies to the Free Methodist Bishops Famine and Relief Fund and they will use the money for Haiti relief efforts.  Ask family and friends to donate also.  They desperately need our help!
