Living in Joy! Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again--rejoice! Phil. 4:4 (NLT)
Sometimes we struggle to find joy . . . perhaps it is because we are looking for joy in something we don't have, rather than finding the joy in the things we do have. I read the following story recently and it is a great example of finding joy in what we have . . .
"Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen.

As we celebrate this wonderful season of Christmas our thoughts readily turn to the gift of Christ and what His coming means to us. It's easy because we are surrounded by nativity scenes, bright, twinkling lights, Christmas trees adorned with beautiful decorations, Christmas carols, gifts and more. For many it's an easy time to remember our relationship with Christ because our spiritual "sight" is focused.
So, what happens when the decorations come down, the twinkling lights are packed away and gifts find their place on the shelf? Do we hear comments like: "I'm having trouble connecting with God in prayer?" "God seems so far away". The truth is God didn't "go" anywhere! He's always close to us. But, we find that we have allowed the "world" to creep in and deflect our focus away from Christ.

Sometimes our lives seem so difficult that we ache for the day we can be with God in His Home in heaven. It's normal to have those feelings at times, but we must remember we are here for a purpose--"for such a time as this" as it was said in the book of Esther in the Bible.
I was deeply touched when I read a story about George Whitefield, a great evangelist, who was talking to some friends one day, relating the difficulties of ministry. He explained that he was weary and was glad his work and ministry would soon be over. He stated that he was excited to depart this old earth to be with Christ.

There is a story of four ministers who were discussing various Bible versions and which ones they like best. One liked the King James Version because of its eloquent literary style. Another clergyman preferred the Revised Version of 1881 because it gave the most literal accounts of Hebrew and Greek. The third minister felt that the New King James Version was the most readable and easiest to understand of all. But the fourth minister didn't say a thing. Finally, one of them asked for his opinion on which version of the Bible he liked best and why.
The man replied, "I like my mother's translation the best."
The others were shocked by his answer, and one of them asked, "Did your mother translate the Bible into her own version?"
"Yes, sort of," the man replied. "She translated it into her life, and it was the most convincing version I've ever seen."

I recently read an interesting story about some workers who were involved in a building project in London. The architect was none other than Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723) who was supervising the construction of the beautiful cathedral in that city. A reporter thought it would be interesting to interview some of the people working on the project and then write a story about the progress of the huge undertaking.
The reporter selected three workers and asked them, "What are you doing?"
